| When Remodeling your home everyone wants to get
the best quality they can, for as little as possible. Here’s
How to Save Money on Your Remodeling Projects:
Planning/Products
- Plan ahead. Don’t ask a contractor to rush to pour concrete
before the cold weather hits as you’ll be charged accordingly!
- Shop the sales and look for out-of-stock supplies that are
discounted.
- Ask your contractor for ideas on how to plan the project to
save time and money
- Select standard tiles with an accent border of decorative tiles
instead of adding a wall or floor of designer tile.
- Look around at all your fixtures and see if there are any that
may be worth saving? Many fixtures can be repaired or even repainted
instead of being replaced.
Structural
- Stick with your existing floor plan, if possible try not to
move walls.
- Work with existing mechanicals, if possible as some building
codes and safety issues may dictate otherwise.
- If possible do all or some of the work yourself, depending
upon your skill level
- Scale down the size of the project
- Do the project in stages.
Financing
- Take advantage of promotional financing offers, but always
remember to pay the balance in time to avoid interest fees.
- Shop around for the best rate on a loan/line of credit
- Consider bartering services with a friend or relative who is
a skilled remodeler
